Faded Masks Tutorial

Hello again my pretties!! I am back for the second time today to bring you yet another tutorial to go with......one of the other new releases from Liz coming out this week. And just to tease ya even more, there are even more goodies than these two I have shown you! I am mean, I know.

This tutorial goes along with the Faded Masks Liz created. Masks are a super easy way to take an already great photo or paper and make it even more FAB! Just by clipping you can turn your photos or paper into amazing new shapes. I love how Liz added the “faded” effect to these masks to soften the edges. Here we go with the tutorial for Faded Masks….

Here is my completed layout and next I will walk you through how I used the mask….

First, I began by opening my background (brown) paper, the photo I wanted to work with, the mask of choice for this layout, and the paper to clip to the mask (yellow).

The next three screenshots show how I double clicked on the yellow paper to bring it into my workspace. Then I drug (or is it dragged..sorry) the yellow paper onto the black mask. Next I “clipped” the yellow paper on to the mask (previously shown in 3D tutorial) and finally I merged the two layers together to create just one layer.

Now, drag the yellow mask shape onto your background paper and position it where you want it.

Next, drag your photo onto your workspace. My photo was small when it was placed in the workspace but all I did was grab a corner of the photo and enlarged it until I knew it would cover the mask completely. In this case I actually moved the photo left until some of it was “off the page” completely.
Now, clip your photo to the yellow mask. Notice how you do not have the yellow glowing effect like I have in my completed layout? Don’t worry, I am getting to that:)

To achieve the yellow glow all I did was drag a 2nd yellow mask into my workspace and position it between the photo & brown background paper. I also widened the mask a little to make it stand out a little more than the photo.

So, there you have it………another tutorial to get you ready to use these smashing new releases from Liz this week. Isn’t learning fun? I think so!!!
