Life with Liz - My Advent Page

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a great month. I'm here to show you my finished advent page from my challenge, you can read about it here.

I will admit that I didn't take a photo every day. I missed just a few. But I went back and took photos of different objects that represented what we did. So not to worry if you didn't take a photo every day, it's still possible to finish your advent page.

After doing this little challenge I've decided that next year I'm going to go a little bigger. I would like to make a whole December album with a page for every day. Maybe a mini album or something. I have a whole year to think about it and plan but who knows, maybe you'll see a little something in my store next year for this project.

Without further ado here is my page. It's a little busy but I LOVE the mix of photos and I know I will look back and remember all the different things we did to celebrate Christmas.

Here's my 2nd page for the journaling of each day.

Here's the journaling if you are interested:
1. We started Dec. 1 by beginning to read “Rediscoving the Christmas Season” reading plan for the month of Dec. A passage each day until Christmas.
2. Each year we have the cousins over to decorate gingerbread houses. We did this on day 2. I didn’t think our gingerbread houses were that pretty but my daughter said they were beautiful!
3. Each year in our little town they have “Winter Wonderland.” It’s fun to walk down main street and visit the shops, get cookies and hot cider and see all the pretty decorations.
4. Today was the day to decorate our tree and put out our manger scene. I pretty much let the girls decorate the tree on their own this year....I just snapped photos.
5. We went and saw the Nutcracker. We’ve been studying it in school and some of our good friends were in it. The girls enjoyed seeing Nathan and Michelle do the Spanish Chocolate dance.
6. A friend gave the girls little advent gifts that they get to open each day of Dec. leading up to Christmas. Here’s a picture of Kyla opening up day 6. Today’s little gift were snowmen pin.
7. Today we spent some time making some special ornaments to hang on the girls small tree that is in their room.
8. Shawn usually spends a day decorating the outside of our house full of lights. This year he didn’t have the time so he and the girls strung a row of lights around the porch and over the door.
9. Here’s something we do every night during December. I’ve been slowly collecting Christmas books and so every night we read a different Christmas book.
10. We always have a little Christmas party with our friends. At this particular party the girls put on a performance....complete with music, outfits & popcorn.
11. What is Christmas without baking?!? Today we spent some time making  brownie peppermint sticks & white chocolate gorp...one of our favorites every year.
12. My hubby and I are trying to make it a tradition to go to the Andrew Peterson Christmas concert. Unfortunately we didn’t make it this year because of snow. :-(
13. Christmas needs music and we have a lot of fun listening to our own mix of Christmas music. The girls also learn a Christmas song on the piano each year.
14. Something our family does every year is we go shopping and split up and the girls buy presents for mommy & daddy. The lucky store this year was wal-mart.
15. I think we started a new tradition this year. I got the girls to wrapping one night and they wrapped almost all the presents.....it was lovely!
16. Here we are at our homeschool Christmas party....we sang songs at the nursing home and then we decorated Christmas cookies.
17. We read a special Christmas book every night of Dec. and every year I buy a new book. My goal is to have 25 books so that we can read a different one each night. This was the book I bought this year.
18. Something new this year that the girls did that I decided would become a tradition. They had a birthday party for Jesus....they set it up and invited mommy & daddy to come.
19. Every year there is some sort of Christmas program for the children at our church. Our girls always participate.
20. Usually our Christmas baking lasts a few days. Here we are getting ready to make some more goodies!
21. Something my mom always did, when I was growing up, was have a Christmas cookie decorating party. This year she had a party for all of her grandchildren....I hope it becomes a tradition.
22. This year I started a new tradition (hopefully). We went to the local pottery place and painted Christmas ornaments.
23. And of course we have to drive around and see Christmas lights....but this year Grandpa came to us in his festive truck!
24. Here the girls are ready to go to the annual Christmas Eve service at our church.
25. Christmas morning - see all those happy faces! Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord! Luke 2:11

If you've joined me in this challenge I would love to see your finished pages. You can post the links in the comments section and I'll take a look. If you are just reading this and missed out on planning this challenge then I encourage you to go around your house before all those Christmas decorations are taken down and snap some photos of your Christmas memories and you can also use some of the photos I know you've taken during the month of December.
