Decorative Mason Jar Lids: Using Digital Scrapbook Supplies

My girls are taking a financial class through our homeschool co-op and they were assigned to make three jars: one for giving, one for saving and one for spending.

My oldest daughter (who's 10 now) has been doing a little bit of digital scrapbooking. I thought it would be fun to let her use photoshop to decorate her jar. I knew my 8 year old would want to decorate her jars the same way, so I helped her out a little bit. They loved looking at my pretty kits and picking something out. I thought it was interesting that they were instantly drawn to kits by Designs by Megan Turnidge. I think it's because she always has fun colors and beautiful flowers in her kits. I love her designs as well, maybe that has something to do with it!

Using Beauty from Within by Megan Turnidge
I made a circle clipping mask in photoshop with the same dimensions as the mason jar lid. Then they decorated their circles in photoshop.

After they were done decorating I placed them on an 8.5x11 canvas and saved them as .jpgs and printed them out. The girls cut out the circles and then glued them on the lids and placed the rings on top.

Easy peasy. I might have decorated them a little bit differently but I think they did great for a 10 and 8 year old.

I can't wait to try this on jelly jars that my daughter is using as favors for her wedding.
