Week 24: Just another pretty normal week. A doc appointment in Chapel Hill, some progress on our new house, laundry folding parties (lots of them!), Friday night Ice Cream with a walk on the Greenway (it's becoming a tradition), a 5k, an '80s themed birthday party, running club and food.

Take a closer look below if you want to.

And here's my June 2016 Calendar Page. Remember, I'm making these ahead of time and at the end of the year, I'll have a whole calendar to print for my mom. I'm really loving this project.

2015 Week 23: Say Cheese!

I went to get the photos off my camera this week, and I had none! Not one on taken on my DSLR. I think that probably speaks to how busy I was or how tired I was. It was just one of those super tiring weeks. But thanks to my handy dandy phone (and hubby) I had taken a few over the week. Several of these were actually taken with my hubby's phone.

So, take a closer look if you want to, and I'm hoping next week I'll pick up my DSLR more!

Digital Scrapbook Tutorial: Use a 12x12 Template to Make a Facebook Timeline Cover! FREEBIE Included

Anne posted a timeline cover she had created using one of my templates in the SwL Facebok Group.

She made this with a template from Recyclables 39.

I was so inspired by her cover that I decided to try and make my own. I know, way behind the times here. I usually just upload a picture for my cover, and I'm good to go.

Well, it turns out to be super easy and lots of fun! I thought I would show you how I made my own timeline cover using a template from my Artsy Journal Templates 7 set.

First I did a little google search on Facebook timeline cover sizes. I found that it needed to be 851 pixels by 315 pixels. I opened the new document with those dimensions in Photoshop.

Then I went searching for the perfect template to convert to that size. I chose the template above from my Artsy Journal Template 7 set. I thought it would work well because everything was clustered to the right, plus I love that chevron style.

I opened my template in Photoshop alongside my 851 by 315 document. I highlighted all of the layers from the 12x12 template and duplicated them (right-click the highlighted layers and duplicate to the correct document) onto the 851 by 315 document. Then I grabbed all the layers and used the move tool to resize all the layers to fit the 851 by 315 document. You can see I had to zoom way out.

It took a little bit of playing around to get it to look exactly how I wanted it. I deleted the journaling layer, title layer, and a few layers that weren't seen. I also had to move over the scallop and doodle that was on the left side of the template until it lined up with the left side of the timeline cover. After getting it just how I wanted it, I had to play around with the shadow layers since they were too deep. This is what I came up with:

It only took me a few minutes to get it just right. It took me much longer to find the right photos and kit! Then I just had to scrap it like I would with a regular template.

I used True Stories from Juno Design.

Just to make it a little easier for you guys I have this freebie for you. It's my converted template to a Facebook timeline size and a plain 851 by 315 document in case you want to start with a blank slate. You can take a peek at my shadow layers too if you want to get a feel for what might work on this size of template. I'm no shadow expert, so definitely play around and see what works for you. Just click the image to download.

I *might* design some Facebook timeline covers. What do you say? I'm not sure if I want to get out of my comfort zone of designing 12x12 templates.

One More Page

Stand Out by Red Ivy Design

At least I got one more page done this past weekend on Matthew's Album. Hey, even if I only do one page a week I should be done by the end of this year. Totally doable, but I'm definitely hoping to crank out more than that each week. Here's to hoping I have more to share with you next week.

2015 Week 21: Too Much Fun and Too Many Videos

We took a last-minute little mini-vacay. There are lots of pictures and videos of that. I think I went a little overboard on videos this week. Then there are just a few pictures of our normal life and a picture of the foundation of our new house (trying to include a picture of the progress each week).

I edited the template a lot, which ended up being so easy to do. These templates are really easy to work with. You can easily stretch a photo spot or move them around as needed. It worked great for that panoramic picture of our house.

June Blog Challenge! Template Revisited #36

Oh my goodness!  It's June.  JUNE!  My kids are out of school and we are well into the summer swing. It seems like I scrap after the sun goes down in the summer.  Maybe it's cooler in the house or maybe I just think it is, but either way, I really do love scrapping at night this time of year.

This month's challenge template jumped right out.  I had it downloaded and scrapped in less than 24 hours.  If you knew me, you'd know that's fast for me.  I'm one of those people who has to try every single paper in every single spot, twice.  I play with embellishments and shadows.  I fiddle with this and that, again and again.  I run my photos through different programs to find the feel I want.  I've been known to set a layout aside and come back to it a week later.  That doesn't happen often but it does happen. So the fact that this template was scrapped so quickly speaks volumes.  I'm really anxious to see what you all think of it and about busting to see what you do with it!
