My Scrapping with a Small Tutorial

I thought I would show you all some pages I just made and some different settings I used to make them. This first one is from my template challenge from last week....I finally did it! Oh and I'm feeling much better by the way, no more coughing!

Anyway, I tried using some elements that I don't usually use....like a curly ribbon and buttons...I have such a hard time getting them to look right. I'm still no quite sure about this page. I think I need to adjust some of the shadows more. But I'm done for now! LOL! And I'm such a simple scrapper that I have a hard time putting lots of elements on my page. Not that I don't like those kinds of pages.....I see them in the galleries and I so wish that I could make pages like that but I just can't seem to do it......but I wanted to try. Plus this kit from Julie Bullock had so many beautiful things in it. I just want to try and use it all!

Using my Square 1 Templates
and Julie Bullock kit Spring Fresh
and Amanda Heimann's Tiny Scallop Alpha

Okay here's another one....I think I'm a little happier with this one. I played around with the shadows more, adjusting their colors and and blend modes and warping some of them too. But I did something on this page that I have NEVER done before. I used the unsharp mask (let me tell you, I'm still learning new stuff every day). I read about it on the Scrap Orchard Blog a while ago. Ann wrote a post about how to make your layouts really stand out in the galleries. So I thought this was something I definitely wanted to try. Finally....over a month later I finally tried it out. I don't know about you but I think my page stands out a bit....at least a few of the photos do if nothing else. So, I'm still learning......I think we all are.

Another one from my Square 1 Templates
and this kit is from Traci Stroud called Love Blooms Here

Here are the settings I used for my dropshadows and unsharp mask on my second layout. Now remember, I'm still learning too but I thought you might like to see what I'm using for now.

This one is for the photo/paper layers.

To get to your dropshadows just click on the layer that you are working with in your layer pallette and your Layer Style menu should pop up. From here you just go to your dropshadows.

Blend Mode: Linear Burn
Opacity: 50%
Angle: -45
Distance: 10
Size: 16

Here are my settings for my larger items, like the alpha, ribbon, buttons, etc...

Blend Mode: Linear Burn
Opacity: 50%
Angle: -45
Distance: 20
Size: 22

Okay and here are the settings for the unsharp mask. I used the same exact settings that Ann used over on the blog at Scrap Orchard. Since this was my first time I was just testing it out. I may play around with it more next time.
To get to the Unsharp Mask you go up to your menu bar then go to Filter>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask and then from there you can enter your settings.
Amount: 81%
Radius: 4.0 pixels
Threshold: 1

Speaking of learning, I'm going to be asking you all for opinions about templates and what you all would like. I'll be posting different questions on my facebook over the next couple of weeks. I already posted one and got lots of feedback. Thanks! I'll be taking your opinions and then I will be adjusting my new templates to fit your needs....like separate shadow layers, etc.... So be sure not to miss out on this in case there's something you would really like to see me doing.
Anyway, have a great rest of the weekend and be sure to come back for Monday's Template Challenge.
