New Templates & Masks & Winner Announced

Liz here tonight to show you my new goodies. Ellie's not feeling so hot tonight so she's taking the day off. Feel better Ellie!

But before we move onto the new stuff I need to announce Tuesday's winner. I did a blog post about how I scrap and for everyone who left a comment they had a chance to win my new templates (which you'll see below). The winner is Christie #5 (I used random.org to choose my # and it chose #5). She said, "I never scrap the same way twice! LOL It really depends on my mood. Sometimes I'll start with a template, sometimes a kit speaks to me and sometimes I'll come across a picture or pictures I just have to scrap!" Christie be looking for an e-mail from me! And thanks everyone for playing along. It was fun to read what goes through everyone's minds when they scrap.

On to the goodies and be sure to look below for some inspiration from my team.
Here's a super fun, new template set for you to play with.
Lots of places for all those pretty papers and ribbons you have in your stash. It's a great way to highlight your photos too.
Now onto some fun, new, unique masks. You can use them all as one layer and clip your photos to them or use the layers separately and use them for paper and photos.
That's it for this week but be sure to check back next week...who knows what I'll be having going on for the start of Digital Scrapbookin Day. I do know that there will be an exclusive freebie in my newsletter so you might want to make sure you are signed up for that....and who knows, you might find something free here on the blog too.
Oh and before I show you some beautiful layouts from my team I wanted to remind you about Digiscrap-apalooza.
It's going to be a ton of fun. Just take a look at the classes we have lined up for you. Just click on the photos to get more info.
Now onto some gorgeous layouts with my Lots of Scraps - Temps and Layered Masks

Life with Liz - How I Scrap

Tuesday again and I thought it might be fun to show you the steps I take to scrap a digital page. The first thing I begin with are pictures. Usually I scrap chronologically and right now I'm still working on my 2009 album but sometimes I have more recent photos that I really want to scrap. So I'm going to  put my chronologically, organized self behind and scrap some photos that I just took this past weekend. Here are the pics that I've chosen.
Can't you see how I just couldn't wait to scrap this pic? I mean, come on, she's such a cutie.
My other cutie.

Once I have the main pics picked out that I want to use then I will browse through my templates and see what might work well with the photos. I almost always use a template. I might be creative when it comes to making templates but for the life of me I can't start with just a  photo and a kit...I'm just no good at it! Anyway, back on track, I decided to use one of my new templates that I've really been wanting to try out and I think it will be fun with these photos.

Here's the template I chose it's from a new set coming out this Thursday called Lots of Strips Temps.

This template has a spot for 3 photos so I chose another pic that goes along with these series of photos. I think this one will do...kind of wish I would have had a pic of my oldest daughter wearing the glasses but I didn't, so I'm working with what I have. This one is cute with my little nephew with his finger on his mustache. It looks like he's thinking really hard.

Then, once I have my photos and templates chosen, here comes the fun part....picking out the kit I'm going to use. Usually I stick to one kit for a page and if I don't have a kit that goes with the photos then I get to do some shopping in my favorite store, Scrap Orchard, and pick out a good kit to go with these photos. Sometimes I ask for help over in the Scrap Orchard forum if I can't find just what I'm looking for. Tiff suggested this kit by Ziggle:
I know the theme doesn't really look like it would work well, but just look at those colors. They work perfectly with the pink in the photos. Plus with the template I'm using I need lots of ribbon and pretty paper....and this will work well with it. This kit doesn't come with alpha so I go ahead and grab Julie Bullocks Stainless Alpha because it looks like it would go with this kit and my page.

So I have my photos, template and kit...now I can start scrapping. I usually start by clipping my photos in the photo spots and then finding the perfect background paper, which is usually a solid...I just have a hard time making patterned paper work. Once I have my photos and paper in place then I will add more paper or elements depending on the template or whatever else it might need. In the template I'm using here it has lots of places for paper strips and ribbons, so that is what I will add next. After that is done I will add my title and journaling. Now my page is pretty much put together and just needs some tweaking with shadows and photo editing. I usually just use the shadows that are on the template but sometimes I adjust a few of them.

These are the steps I usually take to make a digi-page. What steps do usually take? Do you pick a kit or a template first that you are just dying to use or do you scrap your photos in order? Let me know in the comments and I'll choose a winner Thursday night to win the new set of templates that will be coming out on Thursday.

Here's the finished page for you.

Life with Liz - My Weekend

I thought I would share with you a little bit about my weekend....since it was so fun. First off I got to meet one of my creative team members, Helen. She was in my part of the woods checking out the beautiful mountains of NC. She was able to come to church with me and then we had lunch together. It was short but sweet. She's so sweet and I can't wait to see her again in Vegas next spring!

Then, I think because I was kind of inspired bye Helen, because she had drove so far to come see our beautiful mountains in the fall, I decided that my family and I should do some sightseeing and enjoy our beautiful mountains in the fall too. So we went and did some of our own sightseeing and hiking. We hiked over 3 miles and climbed over 600 steps with our 3 girls. Hiking and sightseeing are one of my most favorite things to do with my family....plus I get to take lots of pictures and then scrap them.

Here are a couple of pages I made with pics I took on Sunday. Oh and if you are wondering if I have templates like this be sure to keep an eye out in my store. I have a fun new set coming out on Thursday that will help you scrap pages like these....and they are really fun to scrap with I might add. I made a fun double pager. I can't wait to get these printed. It will look so pretty in my scrapbook, thanks to Tracie Stroud's new kit Falling into You.

Life with Liz - Hair

If you've been reading my blog posts for awhile this title might seem familiar to you. I did a blog post back in July about my hair. So I hope I don't bore you again with another post about my hair. I guess hair is a big part of my life....which is kind of weird because I rarely do anything to my hair. I NEVER color it and I only go to the salon about twice a year to get it trimmed. So I don't really know why it seems like a big deal. Maybe it's because my hubby likes my hair a lot and he likes it when I actually do something different with it. The first post (back in July) was actually for a Time Capsule Challenge over at Scrap Orchard. I did a page about my hair almost 3 years ago (very short) and then my hair now (very long). It's about the only thing I do....grow my hair out really long for a couple years, then cut it off. Well, after almost 3 years of growing it out, I've grown to love my long hair a lot and I don't think I will ever go short again....never say never though, right? Anyway, my hubby has been bugging me to do something with it and there is NO WAY I'm cutting it short right now. So since he was gone all last week (you can read last weeks post to see more about that, so glad to have him home) I thought it would be fun to surprise him with a little something different. Just check out my page to see what I did!
That's right! I go a few chunks of my hair colored red. It was so fun. I was kind of worried at first, you know, since I'm 30 now, I didn't know if it would seem crazy for a 30 year old to be getting red streaks in her hair. But it turned out really nice and my hubby LOVED it, so that's all that matters!

I used a new template from me that will be coming out on Thursday!!! It's a super fun template set. So be sure to come back and check it out....I just couldn't wait to use this template! I also used a new kit from Tracie Stroud called Beauty in the World. I'm just loving ALL of her stuff. I used the alpha from the Love Bug kit for my title.

......?

Hi everyone!
Heather here with a little "Tips and Tricks" post for ya.
It seems like some layouts just title themselves. You look at the pictures and you just know what the title of the page is. The same goes for journaling. It's easy to write about what happened at an event, or how you felt at the time the picture was taken. Some pages are just easy. But some pages are just...not.
One of my favorite things to do when I can't think of what to say on a page, is to look at quotes and song lyrics. I can almost guarantee that when I don't know what to say...someone else has already said it!
This first layout is one I created for one of the Scrap That Tune challenges over at Scrap Orchard. I used Liz's Front Page Temps, and lyrics from the song Alright by Darius Rucker.

Those lyrics were just perfect for creating a page about all of the wonderful things in my life. And, of course, Liz's temp was perfect too!

This next layout is one of my favorites, ever. Not only do I adore the picture, but the song that I chose for the page is one of my all time favorites. It's amazing what using lyrics that are meaningful to you does to a page. It added an additional level of emotion to the page for me. For this one, I used lyrics from the song This by No More Kings (if you don't know them, don't walk, RUN, to iTunes and buy their albums!) It's sort of half journaling and half title, haha!

These last two layouts are pictures that just NEEDED to be scrapped, but didn't particularly "mean" anything. For this, I looked to quotes. A simple search for "daughter quotes" and "family quotes" led me to these:

Liz has some temps that are perfect for titles and journaling. Take a look at her Big Title Templates and her Back to Journaling Temps. You'll definitely make some beautiful layouts with those.
Looking for some great quotes? Check out Quote Garden, it's one of my faves!

I hope this helps a little bit when you're feeling stuck. Why don't you try using some quotes and lyrics on your layouts? I think you'll love it!
