Sneak Peek - New Products & New Projects

I'm ready to get back in the swing of things! I have some fun stuff planned for 2013 and I hope you'll be joining me for some of it.

First off I'm going to show you the sneak peek of the new products I'll be releasing on Thursday. These are for sure going to help you with your daily, weekly or monthly scrapbook challenges....or just your regular pages! You can enter the giveaway below for a chance to win both of my new products. There's also going to be an awesome free with purchase deal that you won't want to miss.

Now I'm just going to give you a little sneak peek of some of the new blog posts and challenges that'll be going on on the blog during 2013.

I'll still be having my regular Template Revisited Challenges each month, where you'll get a free template and then a chance to win $5 to my store. Actually, the first one will be posted tomorrow. I'll also still be having my Gallery Stand Outs each month. So make sure you upload your pages to my Scrap Orchard Gallery for your chance to be in that and win more $$$ to my store. I know this is about my blog but I want to let you know that I'll still be having my monthly template MIS in the Scrap Orchard forum and  facebook.

Along with the older stuff I'll be adding in my own personal weekly challenge that I'm going to try and do this year. I've recently discovered the fun world of instagram. It's such a fun and easy way to use my camera to capture real life stuff. So my own personal goal is to take a picture a day and then scrap a page each week. I'm even making special templates for this project that I'll be selling in my store each month. I'll be blogging more about this project on Thursday so be sure to come and read more about it and if you want to make sure that you start taking your daily photos on the 1st!

Plus I really enjoy doing DIY projects and most of them include some kind of scrapbook paper, hybrid, art, etc....So I'm going to try and do a special blog post each Saturday showing you some of my DIY projects.

I'll also be doing random posts on Wednesdays showing you my digital scrapbook pages, giving you some tips on how I scrap, tutorials and more!

Here's a quick run down of what my blog is going to look like for 2013:

Mondays - Sneak Peek and Giveaway
Tuesdays - Template Revisited Challenges & GSO
Wednesdays - My Pages, Tutorials, Scrapping, etc....
Thursday - My Weekly Project Pages, Tips & Instagram
Friday - New Product Post
Saturday - DIY

I'm pretty excited about the new year. I hope you are too.
-Liz

P.S. Make sure to enter the giveaway here to win my two new digital scrapbook products. I'll be announcing the winner here on Thursday morning.

Holiday Traditions and Word Art by Designs by Kat and 2 in 1 Templates.

I'll be taking the rest of the week off but I'll be back next Monday for a sneak peek of my new releases and I'll be telling you a little bit about some of the new challenges and blog posts I'll be having in 2013.

3 New Products!

Liz has three new products in her store this week. They are sure to give you some inspiration and get you scrapping. These are all 20% off through December 27.

First up is Insta Square Templates. This is a really cute set that you can use to build an album or to keep on hand for single pages. Do you print your pages in 8x8 size?  Liz made 10 of the 11 templates so they can be trimmed to 8x8 without losing any of the templates and without shrinking the photos - so they are perfect for 8x8 scrappers.

Christmas Tree Templates contains five paper pieced trees for your Christmas layouts. These paper trees look stunning on layouts!!

Photo Strip Templates are filled with lots of photos - the fewest is 18!  These strips are a fun and trendy way to scrap a lot of pictures. They are great for event scrapping, like all your holiday festivities or daily photos. These four templates were recent freebies, so check your stash before you buy.

Here are some gorgeous pages from Liz and the team.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a very merry Christmas.

My Blurb Book - A Review

It's here! My Blurb book. Some of you were waiting to see it and hear my reviews on it. For those of you who follow me on facebook you might have seen the little bit of drama that happened with the original book. Okay, it wasn't really drama, because I'm not a drama kind of girl. I think it was a simple mistake that, thankfully, got quickly fixed, VERY quickly, I might add. I ordered my book on a Friday night and received it on the following Friday morning.  I was so excited. I even waited until nap/rest time (when 4 little girls would be sleeping or reading quietly) to open my book. I really wanted to enjoy it, sit down and look at it peacefully, you know? I opened it up and at first I loved it. I loved the cover. I loved our name printed on the spine. I opened it up and the first thing I want to look at was the quality of the print, the colors, how my shadowing looked, etc.  At first I was so excited because I thought it looked great. Then my hubby asks (who is looking over my shoulder - so much for peace, right?), "Why are the pages sideways?" I didn't even notice because I was looking so closely at the page. Yup, every single page was printed sideways.

I was disappointed. I immediately sent Blurb a message and even sent them a picture of what was wrong. They responded by that evening and told me they had fixed my book and were mailing me a new one! Yay. By that following Thursday I had my new book in hand and it was perfect! A+ for great customer service.

My Creative Team Member, Tiff (at Dotted with Dots), did a review awhile ago and I would say that what she said pretty much sums up what I thought about the quality of the book. Read her post here.

Now I'm just going to show you some pictures of my book.

Here's the spine. I love how I fit 106 pages in that little book. It leaves so much more space on my bookshelves for more scrapbooks! Plus I love how I'll easily be able to identify my album.

Here's my very simple cover page. Once I had uploaded all my pages I realized I needed a cover page. I just wanted to get it done at that point so I had this pretty little Element Cluster from Red Ivy Designs kit called Letter from a Fallen Leaf and I just slapped it on a 12x12 white canvas and added the title.

Simple but sweet.

The binding. Lookin' good.

As in Tiffany's review you can see the little bit of warp in the book.

This is what you see when you open up the book. The very first page is a grey blank page. That's how they print them.

Here are what some of my double page layouts look like with the white border.

You can see a bit of the white border in the middle but I think it looks fine....it's better than missing some of your page.

More double pagers.

A single page.

Look at the detail. I love it.....digital can still look pretty real, if you ask me.

Another one of my fave double pagers.

This is the first time I've done a family album in a book like this. Usually I just print the individual 12x12 pages and slide them into a traditional scrapbook. I REALLY like this way. I think I'm hooked.

I've already reaped some of the reward for my hard work. Well, it's not really hard work because I enjoy digital scrapbooking so much. ;)  I have already seen my girls flipping through the book, smiling and laughing at different pages, saying, "Remember that?"

-Liz

P.S. I am in no way affiliated with Blurb, they did not compensate me for writing this review.

Updates on Some Older Products!

This is for all of my StoryBook Creator and Artisan users. I've updated some of my older template packs to include .page files. Woohoo! I thought maybe you would like to know. While all of my newer template sets (from the last year and a half) include .page files, some of my older products don't have them. The .page files will work with SBC+3, SBC 4 and Panstoria Artisan software. I thought I would show you which ones you can now get with .page files. Are you excited?

Before I start let me give you a few tips, just in case you aren't familiar with using the .page files in your Creative Memories Software. If you have Storybook Creator 4.0 then all you will have to do is click the .page file and the layered template will open for you. If you have Storybook Creator 3.0 then you will have to open up either an existing or new project of that project size (depending on the template size). Then from the home ribbon, select "Import Page". Navigate to where you have the *.page file saved on the hard drive and it will import into that project.

Oh and just another little tip. On my previews you can look at the little white tab on the bottom and that will let you know what file type that particular template set will come in.

Well, here they are, in no particular order:

These come in both 8x8 and 8.5x11.

December GSO -- Vote and Win!

It's Tracy here and it is time to pick the December GSO! Make sure to vote, HERE, by this Friday the 14th and you will receive a 30% off coupon to Liz's store* and you will be entered into a drawing, where one lucky voter will win $5 to Liz's store!! November had some beautiful layouts with gorgeous color choices but here are our top five!

(and don't forget to leave the nominees some love, the titles are linked back to their gallery posts)
Wrapped in Love by rxdawg97
We love this layout using Traditional Temps II for the bright colors and patterned papers, the banner title, the balance of the photo and main cluster, and the perfect shadows.

Christmas Cutie!

Water Lily by Chrstie (Chippi)
We are drawn to this layout using the 2012 November Blog Challenge Template by its monochromatic design, vibrant photo, the stitching and the frame choice.

 Splendid!

Christmas Smiles by Lynette (LRaeWoo)
This layout, using the Up Close and Personal Templates, was chosen for the big bright photo of this adorable little boy. Lynette's clusters are gorgeous with fantastic shadowing. We love the neutral background palette with all that red and the mixed alpha title is a nice touch as well.

Milk and Cookie Worthy!

October Topper by Sandra (sberkan)
We love this family layout using the Ying and Yang Calendar 8.5x11 Templates for the design elements of the wood background and the lighter layered background paper to bring in light. The black mat on the large photo and the acrylic title are classic and elegant. And the family photos are beautiful.

Family!

Changing Colors by Alyna (shunnstergirl)
This layout celebrates autumn using the Chevron Masks. We love the attention to details...stitching, spatter, clustering and color changing title. The colors definitely speak of autumn, while the Chevrons depict the changes over time.

 Fall-tastic!

Some of My November Pages

I'm here to show you some of the pages I scrapped during November. That's right, I'm only showing you some of the pages because I actually finished my 2011 album! Do you remember my goals from the beginning of this year? Here's just a recap. I wanted to finish my 2011 album while still scrapping some of my 2012 photos. So for each month of 2012 I scrapped both my 2012 pics from that month and then all of my 2011 pics from that same month. Once I hit November of this year I was so close to finishing my 2011 goal that I just focused on those photos so that I could get my 2011 album printed and have it to pass around at Christmas time. I've ordered my Blurb book (trying this company for the first time) and I'll let you now how I like it once I get it. I did get behind on my 2012 pictures but at least I have a good start to them and I've accomplished one of my goals.

I actually scrapped a total of 31 pages this month! That's a record for me. I'm not going to show you them all, because guess what? I actually scrapped a lot of them without templates. I'm planning on turning them all into templates for you all and I kind of want them to be a surprise.

I'm going to be rethinking my goals for 2013. I know I want to finish Lydia's album, finish up 2012 and scrap 2013 photos as well. Plus there were some other special albums I'm wanting to work on. I'll have to figure out what might be realistic for me and my life of 4 girls, homeschooling, and running a small business. Wow, I'm already overwhelmed and I haven't even begun.

Well, enough of that. Let's get on to the fun part. Here are some of my pages.
