Week 38. It was a pretty normal week around here: school, hiking, appointments, and outside play. The one out of the ordinary event was my oldest daughter getting her learner's permit. How is this possible?

I found that I did not take a whole lot of photos this week. Not sure why...I like to think that maybe I was just trying to soak up the moments with them rather then always trying to take a photo of the moment.

Last weekend I managed to scrap two more pages for Abi and Isaac's adoption album. I focused on playing with my shadows a little bit more in this page. There's a new Polly, Isa Marks, at The Lilypad that inspired me. Her pages look so real. I just stared at her pages for awhile and took note of some of the ways she placed her shadows. I know I have a long way to go, but I think I learned a few things.

Structure and Style Templates

Liz has some really fun templates for us today. These are geometry inspired with plenty of circles and rectangles, including one design with triangles and one with a hexagon. The text boxes are dramatic, with angled and curved edges to match the other shapes on the page. Week 37: A Fair, Debate and Birthday

This week was somewhat normal with a few extra things thrown in. There was school, music lessons, AVT and co-op as usual, along with dirty dishes, laundry and grocery shopping, but we also went to the fair, celebrated a 15th birthday, handled one night without electricity, and attended a debate. I think the latter are things my kids are really going to remember.

See my kids looking at that scrapbook above? The morning of her birthday it's the first thing they all looked at! I love scrapbooking.

This week I just added text over the photos. I always forget how much I like doing that. What's something you like doing on your scrapbook page but don't do it regularly?

The weather is getting cooler around here which means more outside play. We hiked this week. Our first 4 mile hike as a family of 9. We were worried that the 3 and 4 year old might have a difficult time but they completed it like champs. We continued the week with a lot of outdoor activity: picnics, 4 square, BB gun, walks, etc... All this in addition to our normal school work and extra-curricular activities, which I managed to take no pictures of, but I think we'll enjoy the memories on this page either way.

I included a little video of Abi hiking the trail. She's come so far in the last year. She could barely walk on a hard, flat surface when we brought her home. Now she's climbing mountains!

Week 35: School, School and More School!

My life is pretty much all about caring for and teaching my children. This week's page definitely reflects that. I wouldn't have it any other way!

I had fun shopping the new BYOC at the Lilypad for this page. I'll be using the same September BYOC items for the rest of the month. Shopping the new BYOC items each month for my weekly pages has helped me with consistency and also with creativity. Having some new items each month to work with is fun.

Can you believe we are already on Week 35!
