2019 Scrapping Recap and 2020 Goals!

This is sort of becoming a thing. For the last few years, I've done a little re-cap blog post. It's mostly for myself to see what I've accomplished over the last year and to set my goals for next year. This year I finished my big goal of completing my 2019 album. I also am halfway done with my DYD album. I still haven't finished my New House album but I'm literally 2 pages away! I WILL get that done this year. Next year I still plan on doing a weekly album. I think I'm going to keep it super simple this year. Maybe more project life/magazine style like. I have a few other things I want to try my hand at as far as scrapbooking goes and keeping my weekly album really simple will free up some of my creative time. I have no specific album goals in mind besides my weekly album but I want to try some new techniques and challenges.

2019 Accomplishments:

2019 Family Album

2020 Goals:

2020 Family Album - Project Life/Magazine Style
2019 DYD Album - Finish
New House Album - 2 pages to finish
New Techniques and Challenges - I might start with MOC over at TLP

And here's a recap of the last 7 years.

Do you have any goals for 2020? I encourage you to write them out. It really helps to internalize it and see what might be doable.

Document Your December Days 18 & 19

I was able to finish up pages 18 & 19 and pages 20-28 all have their photos and journaling in them. I just need to add papers and elements. I've decided to go all the way through December. We always have family visiting between Christmas and New Years and I want to document that as well. With that said...family is here right now and I know that will put me behind in my scrapbooking but at least all of my pages are ready to be finished.

Day 18 included a little Christmas play at church. I always love these precious moments.

Survey Questions Answered!

I want to thank you all so much for participating in my end-of-year survey. I've been slowly going through all of the answers, suggestions, and comments! You guys are so wonderful. You really know how to make a girl feel good.

I thought I would take a moment and answer a couple of questions and comments.

Please, please, please finish the states!!!!

I know, I know. I started and it's been a slow process getting them all done. They are on the top priority list this year. I have a list of all the states I haven't done yet, and I'll be working on those in-between other releases that I need to do.

Can you design an album about traveling or magazine?

Magazine style templates are some of my favorites to design. I always wonder if digital scrapbookers like this style. I've even thought of doing my project life type pages in magazine format, basically for the ease of creating the pages. So yes, plan to see more of these coming your way.

Also, my travel journal templates are on the top of my designing list, especially after reading the results of the survey!

How do you manage to do so much? (mom, work and scrap!)

Whatever I'm working on at the moment I focus on it. I think this might be referred to as time blocking. For instance from 6-8 in the morning is my personal time (work out, Bible Study, shower, plan for the day - nobody is allowed to interrupt me unless they are sick or bleeding!). From 8-9 it's breakfast and chore time. From 9-3 it's school time. During those times I don't let work distract me from my kids or homeschooling. From 3-7 it's usually extracurriculars, homeschool director work (I also direct a local homeschool group) errands and dinner time. Then after dinner and chores are done I might squeeze in some work until bedtime routine. I usually check e-mail, catch up on forums, etc.. Then after bedtime from around 9-11 is when I focus on SwL work. Sundays afternoons are reserved for scrapbooking. Having focused time where I don't try to multi-task has been the most helpful thing for me. That way when I'm with my kids and hubby my time is focused on them. Now, don't let this fool you into thinking that I live this perfectly organized, smooth life. There are crazy, hectic times where I feel like I can't do it all. In those moments I have to take a step back and re-prioritize. I'm sort of a work in progress...but aren't we all?

Also, I want to add that I love all the different parts of my life. I love that I get to homeschool my kids, I love that I have a little side-hustle that contributes to my family, I love that I get to be creative at night after the kids go to bed. I think having these different parts to my life helps keep it interesting and fun...and I never get bored!

Also, this note made my year. Thank you to whoever left it. This is one of the reasons I love my job and keep sitting down to my computer night after night.

I'm still learning to scrapbook digitally and I would never get anything done without your templates. They are my go-to and allow me to get more done than I ever would without them.

Thanks again for completing the survey!

2019 Week 51 & DYD Days 12-17

Somehow, in between prepping for Christmas, I managed to scrap my weekly page and 5 more DYD pages this past weekend. I think playing with these pretty kits and scrapping December photos really helps put me in the Christmas spirit!

First up is an overview of this past week with my Week 51 page. An indoor pretend picnic, a gingerbread making contest at 4h, a learner's permit...

I had my doubts on whether or not I would be able to scrap a page for every day in December but now that I'm over halfway through I think I can do it! Plus I'm really having fun doing some more detailed scrapbooking.

More Holiday Inspirational Layouts

Happy last Thursday before Christmas!  I know, that’s a mouthful, but that’s how my kids mark the days before Christmas.  They used to say, “Five more sleeps before Christmas,” but I guess as they get older, their sayings change.  Sigh.  Time is going by so fast!

Time passing is why I scrap.  I want to capture the moment so when they go off on their own, I have memories documented.  I enjoy looking at them, and believe it or not, they too love to look back on the past.  So how will I capture the celebrations this month?  Well I am still making a checklist to make sure I get it all.  In my last post I shared some ideas based on what I had seen in the gallery at The Lilly Pad.  I’m back today to share a few more layouts which have inspired me to take more photos and get them scrapped!

Let me show you what I mean.  First, take a peek at this wonderful layout by beatricemi.

Don’t you just absolutely adore these three smiling faces in their cute Christmas pajamas?  I love Christmas pajamas!  There is something so fun about receiving new pajamas on Christmas eve and sleeping in them while dreaming of the morning to come.  Thanks to beatricemi’s artful framing of these pictures, you can just see the joy radiating from the boys!

Next, how about this gorgeous layout by Liz herself!

It beautifully shows the chaos of the holiday season with cookies and recitals and family time as well.  I love that she captured the music with the QR code.  No more pulling out antiquated tapes or reels and trying to figure how to store and play them.  QR codes are definitely easy to use and scrap.  I’m going to include a few on my own layouts this year!

Now I’d like to show you this layout by bonnenuit.

Ahhh Christmas cards.  It’s so nice to see some people still send them.  I LOVE receiving Christmas cards of any kind, but especially the paper kind with hand written notes.  There’s something so comforting about sitting and holding them in your hands and remembering special times with the sender.  I use them as decorations this season and as name tags the next.  I love the way bonnenuit scrapped her husband’s involvement and her stamp embellishment really just makes the page!

Finally, I wanted to share with you katell’s layout.

Her layout expresses just what I feel about the holidays – joy.  There is so much joy in being with family and friends and sharing our lives with each other.  I love the way she captures this exact emotion with the photos and the way she scrapped them to resemble a wreath is pretty darn cute too!

Well, that’s it for me.  I hope you have enjoyed these gorgeous pieces of eye candy and they have inspired you to pull out your camera, phone, or whatever else you use to grab some photos and scrap those holiday memories!  Merry Christmas y’all!

Week 50 & DYD Days 8-11

I was able to scrap a little bit this past weekend. Surprisingly, I've been able to keep up with my 2019 Weekly Album along with tackling the Document Your December Challenge.

I can't believe I only have 2 more weeks to scrap of 2019! How about you? Have you been able to keep up with a 2019 album or any other goals you had this year?

Week 50 was filled with getting over illness, finishing up school, a first civic orchestra performance, live nativity, singing at the nursing home, Christmas party, decorating gingerbread houses with friends and decorating Christmas cookies at Grandma's. It was a "Holiday" filled week.
