Stretch Your Stash Series

Happy January y’all.  Can you believe this month is almost over already?  Please tell me where the time is going so I can slow it down 😊  CTM Robin here with the start of a new series of blog posts.  This year, once a month, I’ll use two bits and pieces from Liz’s store to create a brand-new layout.  The point of this exercise is to show you how all the little template pieces can be used over and over to create an entire layout.  Since this technique will help you stretch your stash, that’s what the series will be called!  AND to make it more fun, Liz has graciously said that each person who votes for their favorite piece in the comments will be entered into a drawing.  One person will be randomly chosen each month to receive a coupon for whatever piece they voted for.  Confused?  Let me show you!

Okay so this month I chose Tags and Date Starters:

And Must Watch Journal Card Templates:

See how neither is a full template by itself?  But what if I combined the two???  Here is what I made using both pieces:

Now to finish my layout, I included my photo and QR code, and then scrapped them both using Just Jaimee’s A Hash Tag Life kit (retired).

Isn’t that fun??  I took two pieces I’ve been using as fillers in other pages and made one unique layout out of them!  So now what I want you to do is enter a comment below telling us which one you’d like to have: Tags and Date Starters or Must Watch Journal Card Templates.  On 2/28 I’ll hold a random drawing and select one person who will win a coupon for what they voted on.  Simple and fun right??

I hope you play along, have fun, and become inspired to stretch your stash!

More MOC pages!

I spent part of my weekend scrapping MOC layouts. If you've never participated in MOC (month of challenges) at TLP, I highly recommend it. There's a challenge for each day of the month. It's inspiring and fun and will get you trying some new things. I haven't scrapped just for fun in a long time and I forgot how much I really love just being creative in this way.  I was able to get through day 19. Check them out.

Day 14: Mosaic Photo Effect - This one was totally fun and taught me how to make a mosaic effect with my photos. So cool!

Day 15: Filled Page Style - This one was a challenge for me. 2 things that are difficult for me is starting with no template and putting lots of stuff on my page. But it stretched me and I do really like this page.

Day 16: Simple Template - This was a pretty straightforward challenge. Use the template and keep it simple.

Day 17: Title Bleeding Off Page - This one was interesting. Since we had to go with a big title I decided to go photoless. I actually made this page based on notes I took from Sunday's sermon at church!

Day 18: All Black of White - I chose all-white for this page since I wanted to scrap about the snow we just had.

Day 19: 'Same but Different' Elements - This one you had to use 10 elements that were the same but different. I used the photo as inspiration and put over 10 cookies on my page.

That's it for this week. I'm not sure if I'll be able to catch up on all of the pages this weekend but I'm going to do as many as I can. Is anyone else doing MOC out there?

This week started with snow! Since we live in an area where we only get snow a couple of times a year we always enjoy it. We spent the day sledding, building snowmen, warming up by the fire, and drinking hot chocolate. It was perfect. The rest of the week we're back at our normal routine with a little bit of yard work thrown in since a BIG tree branch came down over our road during the storm. After all of that hard work, we went to the new Chick-fil-a that the kids had been begging to go to since it opened a week ago. A Chick-fil-a is a big deal in our small town. It was a good week. Now that we got a good snow I'm ready for spring! Oh, and my youngest was inspired by my older daughter taking ballet classes and she wanted to try it out. I guess we'll be adding ballet to our normal routine.

I want to take a minute to mention the colors of this month's BYOC. I LOVE them. The colors go perfectly with my photos. Don't you think?
