Hybrid Page Catch Up

 

I've created a few more hybrid scrapbook pages! I've been sharing them over on my Instagram, but I thought I'd share them all here on the blog, too. I usually include a few more details about how I put the pages together on Instagram, so be sure to check that out if you'd like to see more of the process.

For the page above, I wanted to make it a little more interactive. All of the tags lift up to reveal hidden journaling underneath, which is such a fun way to include more of the story without taking up extra space on the page! I used Simple & Sweet Travel Templates along with the gorgeous Wanderlust collection from Elif Sahin and Designed by Soco. 

I also created an insert (below) to hold even more photos that I wanted to include. I love being able to combine the best of digital and traditional scrapbooking to create something a little different and make room for all those memories.

And because I'm so excited about this project and want to encourage others to give hybrid scrapbooking a try, I turned the page into a template! It’s available in Photoshop and Canva, so even if you don't have Photoshop, you can still jump in and try your hand at digital or hybrid scrapbooking.

Next up is a more straightforward hybrid page! I used my Simple & Sweet Travel Templates to create the layout in Photoshop, then printed the photos and various elements. After that, I cut everything out and put it all together on the page. Sometimes it's fun to keep things simple and let the photos and layers do the work!

For this page, I wanted to create a big pull-out photo feature because I had such a beautiful photo of the Windows area in Arches National Park that I really wanted to showcase it! It's a little hard to see how it all works in these photos, but you can watch a video over on my Instagram here to see the pull-out in action.

I've been experimenting with different techniques and learning new things along the way. I still feel like I have so much to learn, but that's part of the fun! I'm enjoying the process of trying new ideas, figuring out what works, and finding creative ways to combine digital and traditional scrapbooking. I hope these pages might inspire you to try something new, too!

I created another hybrid scrapbook page! This time, I created some interactive elements. It was so fun!
I used Simple and Sweet Travel Album Templates and Wanderlust.

Hybrid Page 2!

I wanted to share my second-ever hybrid layout with you! I posted last week about trying something new for my recent travel album, and I think I’m hooked!

Today, I’m sharing a little about how I created these pages. Keep in mind that I’m brand new to hybrid scrapbooking, so bear with me as I learn, experiment, and figure things out along the way!

 

Trying Something, Please Help!

 

So, I've decided to try my hand at hybrid scrapbooking! Can you believe it? Honestly, I can hardly believe it myself!

I've always loved the ease and simplicity of digital scrapbooking. I love being able to create a page on my computer, move things around as much as I want, and, let's be honest, not have to clean up a big mess when I'm finished! But lately, I've found myself wanting to create something I can actually touch and feel.

Maybe I'm just going back to my roots.

Or maybe it's all those beautiful hybrid scrapbook pages I've been seeing on social media lately. Either way, they've definitely been tempting me! So, when I started working on a travel album from our family trip this summer, I decided it was the perfect time to give hybrid scrapbooking a try.

Now, I have absolutely no idea if I'm doing this "right." Is there even a right way to do hybrid scrapbooking? I'm sure I'll figure out plenty along the way, and probably make a few mistakes, too.

Here's how I got started!

I began with a template from my Simple and Sweet Travel Album set (6x8 size), along with the beautiful Wanderlust collection by Elif Sahin and Designed by Soco.

I took the template and started designing my page just as I normally would digitally. I added the Google Map in place of the photo layer and placed the elements where I wanted them. I also clipped a paper to the tag element.  Then I separated the layers and arranged them on an 8.5x11-inch page for printing. You can see in the image above exactly what I printed.

Then I printed, cut, and glued the pieces together just like on the digital page I created.

I also created a text-only page and a title page (no template - gasp!).

I then purchased a 6x8 album, 6x8 page protectors, and washi tape. I honestly didn't want to purchase the album and protectors until I knew that it was something I wanted to keep doing.

Then I placed my pages in the page protector and into the album.

I didn't put the page you see on the right inside a page protector because it has a more interactive element. I attached one of the layers with washi tape so you can flip up the card and see the entire map underneath.

And that brings me to my first question! For those of you who create more interactive hybrid albums, how do you protect pages that can't go inside a page protector?
