Week 35 is finished. Can you believe it's almost September? We have about 17-18 weeks left of 2014. As I was scrapping I was thinking about how much I can't wait to print this album. I'm going to love that at the end of 2014 I'll already have a book finished for 2014. Only 18 weeks (plus a couple for printing) before I have this Daily Life Album in my hands.

You can read the journaling from this week below and make sure you grab the free journal card template. Don't mind the grammar on the page....it's sort of haphazard.

Journaling: In no particular order....Fabulous Lydia in the new fairy wings she got for her Birthday from Miss Kira. Ashlyn’s first volleyball game and her cheering section. She did great! Roasting marshmallows on Saturday night.

Journaling: Macon GEMS went to Care Net and donated the money that we earned earlier in the year. There’s a picture of Ashlyn and Lydia snuggling while watching a movie on Friday night. There’s my running crew. The older 3 girls are training for a 5k. Lydia and Matthew tag along and ride bikes. Perler beads, I have a love-hate relationship with them. They are a great activity for the kids....practicing following patterns, fine motor skills, etc... BUT those little pesky beads get everywhere. Matthew is a master at these things!

And here's your card for this week....kind of an artsy journal type card. Hope you like it. Just click the image to download.

I'm On the Daily Digi Digest!

I was on the Daily Digi Digest!!! It was such a priviledge to talk with Steph about my scrapping and how I took it on the road to China. You can listen below or download here.

If you all have some great tips on your scrapping workflow please share. I'm always looking for ways to improve my scrapping time.

My Pages: The Last Couple Months

Life has been crazy these days. 5 kids. Just home from China. Starting school. Getting back into the swing of things. Need I say more? That hasn't left a whole lot of time for scrapping. Most of the pages I'm showing you today were scrapped back in June, before the craziness ensued.

I'm trying to finish my 2013 album. I have quite a ways to go, but I'm not giving up. The first four pages you see here have pictures from January 2013. I think I can check that month off the list! Only 11 months to go.

The last two pages you'll see here I just scrapped last week. I'm also trying to work on Matthew's album. These are the first pages I've scrapped of our journey to him.

No more chit-chat. Just browse my pages and enjoy...maybe get some inspiration.

Photo Spots with Paper

Just because a digital scrapbook template might have a bunch of photo spots doesn't mean you have to use them for photo spots. You know me, I love a ton of photos on a page. 1. I love looking at all the photos. 2. I feel like I get more accomplished when I put a bunch of photos on a page. But sometimes you just have a couple of photos for an event, or you just want to focus on a photo or two, or maybe you just want to tell a story through journaling.

You can use those extra photo spots on the template to show off some of those pretty digital papers you have. If you are anything like me you love a good digi-paper. I thought I would show you some of my pages where I use digi-paper in those extra photo spots.

This was a month in review page. I picked the template because I knew I had quite a few photos that I wanted to share from January, but I ended up not filling on the spots with photos. In came the beautiful stash of papers that came with the kit. I love all the patterns. Here's another little tip: If I end up using a lot of bright colors and patterns on my page I also tend to turn a couple photos B&W to kind of balance it out. I get the best of both worlds here: lots of photos and lots of pretty patterned paper.

With this page I used no photos. I cute story happened with my little girl, but I hadn't taken any photos of the event. I wanted to tell the story, so I why not tell it through a scrapbook page. All of the photo spots on this page were filled with journaling or patterned paper. Did you know you can turn almost any template into a photoless page? Just simply add paper and journaling to the photo spots.

With this page I only had two photos I wanted to highlight. I added some pretty Christmasy papers to the page to give it a more festive feel.

And this page was just begging for some pretty blocks to be added. I think the floral paper blocks give it a nice spring feel. It would have looked great with all photos, but this gives it a nice spring feel.

The paper blocks on this page help balance out the photos....I think. On a side note those pictures are over 3 years old. My how my children have grown. *sigh*

Next time you are looking for that perfect template for your photos make sure you visualize a paper in that extra photo spot....it might work out perfectly.

Week 33: Play, Food, Birthday, School, Sick

One thing I love about these Daily Life pictures is looking over my pictures at the end of every week. Even after a week of multiple frustrations (mainly dealing with doctors, cancelled appointments, and feeling like we are getting nowhere) I can see how, in the grand scheme of things, those things don't really matter. We'll eventually get everything figured out, but what matters is how we handle our day to day life. Seeing the pictures reminds me that my children are growing, learning, loving, serving, playing, and happy! So, even if you aren't doing this Daily Life Challenge go look at your pictures from this past week and find the joy in them.

You can read my journaling below. I was quite chatty this week. Maybe because I've been stuck at home the past few days with sick kids.

Journaling: This week started off with Church on Sunday morning, and after nap time we were off to the pool. Notice Matthew and Lydia in their swimsuits hanging on to Ashlyn? They were ready for her to go! On Monday night Ashlyn cooked us a delicious dinner. Cheese Ravioli with a creamy mushroom and spinach sauce. Yum! She’s getting quite good at this whole cooking thing. I might let her take it over!

I snapped this random photo of Kyla playing with her horses. She’s always playing with her horses, and they are strategically placed all over our house. On Thursday we went for a bike ride/run/picnic lunch with the cousins.

Journaling: On Wednesday we celebrated Lydia’s 4th birthday. She had her choice of breakfast (cereal!), and she opened gifts. There were a lot of homemade gifts from her sisters. It was so sweet!  For lunch we went to Asian King. Her favorite. They brought her a piece of cake with some fruit art around it and sang Happy Birthday to her.

At the end of the week Lydia came down with a high fever and a headache. So she snuggled a lot with her new Olaf (that she got for her birthday). That’s how we spent most of the day on Friday and Saturday. The picture from the left was a random picture I took one day while the kids were doing school work. Lydia and Matthew take turns on the computer doing their alphabet work (basically so I can focus with the other girls!). They make a cute team.

Here's the free Daily Life Journal Card. I had some fun making washi tape for this card. Just clip some digital scrapbook paper to the different tape layers or use them as is. Totally customizable.

Daily Life Page & Freebie: Week 32

I feel like we are slowly wrapping up the summer here. Still trying to mix in some summer fun but also trying to get started on school work. It's hard getting back into the swing of things, but we trying to have lots of fun doing it.

I'm loving how my Week 32 page turned out. I'm realizing that I love dark colored backgrounds....and I just love that gold, sparkly alpha! I definitely had fun scrapping this week's page with Juno's kit.

So, take a look, read the journaling from my page (if you so desire), and make sure to grab the free journal card template below.

Journaling: This week’s pictures are in no particular order. We spent some time at the pool after it finally stopped raining. We hiked Brasstown Bald. We are breaking Matthew in slowly to our hiking addiction. He did great! It’s so fun doing stuff all together. Another picture of Grandma’s dog, Buddy (he finally has a name). Kyla is in love and I’m pretty sure that Kyla has become the dog’s favorite. They could spend hours together.

Journaling: We’re still getting back into the swing of school. Matthew and Lydia are in “pre-school” this year. I forgot how much I like doing little pre-school type activities. We also discovered that Matthew loves America’s Funniest Videos. He cracks up whenever we watch it. We also had some sprinkler time in the year. What’s summer without the sprinkler?

And here's your journal card for this week. I hope you can have some fun with it. Just click on the image to download.

Mini-Book Inspiration

Simple and Sweet Album Templates III by Scrapping with Liz
Outdoor Adventures by Sweet Shoppe Designs
Jessica, one of my creative team members, made this fabulous little mini-book with my Simple and Sweet Album Templates III. She used Storybook Creator to re-size and scrap the templates.  You can easily re-size the templates in Photoshop as well. This video tutorial will show you how to re-size pretty much any template in Photoshop, and here's another video tutorial that should help. In Storybook Creator Jessica grouped all the layers together, and then shrank them to a 5x7 size.

BTW-Storybook Creator is no longer available, but Panstoria is a similar scrapbooking software that is available. Storybook Creator and Panstoria require templates in .page format. All of my templates come in .page format as well as .psd and .tiff. From what I understand Storybook Creator and Panstoria have a quicker learning curve than Photoshop.

She said these templates really helped her quickly put together this album. It took her two days to complete this album (she has 5 kids so you can imagine the amount of time she has to scrap!). She's already printed it and given them away as gifts.

So, take a look at her beautiful pages, and remember that a 12x12 template can be used for so much more!

Don't these beautiful pages make you want to put together a mini-album?

Another week down, another page scrapped. You know what I love about doing these weekly pages? Every Saturday night I look forward to going through my pics of the week. There are always a few pictures that really make me smile. I also love the fact that my photos get organized each week and I get to scrap at least 1 double page a week.

You can read about our week below. I hope you aren't tired of seeing pages of my life.

Journaling: On Sunday my Sis snapped a picture of us after church. It is our 2nd family photo as a family of 7! Tuesday we went over to Grandma’s so that the older girls could help her with some painting. The little ones loved hanging with Grandma. On Wednesday we went out to eat to celebrate a couple of birthdays.

Journaling: We started back into doing a little bit of school, but it was so nice outside this week that we spent most of it outside....playing in the newly refurbished sandbox, playing with friends, and playing with Grandma’s new puppy.
The photo right above was taken one night after the kids were all ready for bed. This is my life folks, and I love it! Where’s Ashlyn, you ask? Off to the side avoiding being in the picture....typical 11 year old.

And here's a fun little journal card for you. Just click the image to download.
