GSO Time!

Happy June!!  Can you believe it??  Are you getting out and about or are you still staying at home?  Though all of our summer trips have been cancelled, I’m choosing to remain positive and take this free time to learn my scrapbooking software better.  Here’s hoping after 2-3 months I’ll gain some new skills!  Another thing I’m doing is really taking a hard look at layouts that inspire me in the gallery.  I’m asking myself what do I like about them and how can I incorporate that into my own scrapping.  Let me show you some fun layouts that I found this month:

First look at this one by beatricemi:

I AM drawn to the bright and playful colors on her page. However, what really stands out to me is the doodling look of her papers  and scallop which really ties in with her title.  What a great way to make a cohesive title!

Next is this sweet layout by pearkat:

While the rounded corners are a fantastic way to draw attention to the page, I have to admit the journaling is what made me laugh out loud.  She had a terrific idea to include the quotes as well as the story behind them.

Now peek at this page by sharonb:

Again, she used rounded corners which are fun, but like beatricemi, sharonb has a great title.  Look at the way she repeated “YUM” in the same font twice, but then switched to a lowercase cursive version for the third word.  By changing the font and size of that word, it really makes the viewer take notice and gives an extra emphasis to her title.  Love it!

I am also scraplifting this page by Trish:

First of all I think she did an amazing job with that background paper choice.  And I love the way she repeated the colors with intention throughout the page, which really helped me see each and every element she put on the layout.  I also have to say I love the shadowing of the rocks too.  They are perfect for what you would expect a rock to look like in real life!

And finally, I adored this layout by redplaid3:

I have never done a two page layout before so I already admire her ability to make one.  But ooohhh her title work is great!  I love how she spread it out over the two pages and her playful font choice really matches the positive attitude she exudes on her page.  And the green circle?  Really eye catching!

So now you know why I like each of these fun layouts.  I know we do a GSO post each month, but this time I’m spending extra time myself trying to see what I’m drawn to so I can repeat it on my pages.  Give it a try and see if you notice a trend in what you like!  Maybe like me, you will learn some new ways to scrap 😊.
