It's GSO Time!

Happy New Years Eve!!!  Can you believe that 2020 is FINALLY over??  Ohh I am so hoping and praying that 2021 is a MUCH better year for us all!  On the last day of the year, I like to look back and reflect about what life has been like for our family.  In fact, I usually write a letter to myself to serve as a reminder.  I also go back through my layouts for the year to see what I was able to scrap and make note of that as well.  Today I had the pleasure of not only going through my gallery, but I decided to make note of some other layouts too.  I marked several of them as favorites to be scraplifted in the new year.  It’s my way of organizing my thoughts and pages to make MOC more doable!  As you can imagine, I found so many delightful layouts, and I thought I’d show off a few right now.

First, take a peek at this one by sylvia.  I absolutely adore the way she split the photo into two different frames and how she used her brushes and paints to form a backdrop for this photo.  Her pops of color really make a statement too, as well as those cute birds!  Simply lovely.

Next I’ll show you this one by IntenseMagic.  Rather than the artsy look like sylvia’a, IntenseMagic made a very striking layout using a newspaper type approach.  I love the split text columns and the way she detailed the week in such a relatable, casual tone.  She managed to capture four different photos and turn them into one cohesive page.  I’m crazy jealous of her talent!

Okay, talk about taking different things and mashing them together, jesskab does just this but with paper patterns rather than photos.  Look at these strips!  I love that she uses the bold paper throughout the layout, but yet adds the coordinating neutrals to balance everything out.  She also repeats the colors in her title work and elements.  This is such an eye pleasing page!

Now Dalis made a super fun layout without any photos at all.  She lists the top ten reasons to stay healthy with fabulous paper strips and paper choices for the numbers.  What I’m most amazed at though is her shadowing!  I truly feel like those numbers are curling up off the page and her torn edge is almost 3D like.  Wow.  This is to die for!

Last, but not least, is this layout by Claire Grantham.  This large photo is truly eye catching – especially since her gorgeous eyes are framed so well with her hat and mask.  She makes wearing a mask look like a fashion accessory!  I love the sparkle in her elements and the whimsical title work as well.  Truly well done if you ask me!

I found many, many more layouts in the galleries to add to my favorites folder, but I figured you didn’t want to be here all day reading this post 😊  I hope you enjoy looking at these layouts as much as I do, and that you take the time to organize your own ideas for MOC.  Have a great final day of this year and bring on 2021!

Stories of Life Templates 13 by Scrapping with Liz
Must Watch Doodles by Scrapping with Liz

I didn't scrap at all last weekend so I did a little catching up this weekend. I love that these templates are simple enough to get caught up quickly and they are easy to add photo spots too. I had to adjust a few to fit my photos. Plus I just love scrapping December photos. It's hard to believe I only have two more weeks before this album is complete and this year is over!

No I've got to get started on my 12 Memories of Christmas Album! I haven't even started it. Eeeek!

Making Your Own Styles

Hello!  CTM Robin here with another quick tutorial.  Today I’m going to show you how to save any effect as your own style to help you speed up your workflow.  Let me just jump in and show you what I mean.  Here is my original layout:

What I want to do is create a double stroke around my “S’MORES” title.  Of course it doesn’t take but a second, but if I create my own style, then it’s a matter of pressing ONE button rather than several the next time I want to do the same thing. So first, I’ll add the inner black stroke.  See it?

Then, I’ll add my second, red stroke:

Now you can add one or two or even more strokes on your layers.  Also, be sure to play around with the size, position, opacity, color, and even blend modes.  You make the adjustments which you like!  And then, the fun begins!

In the layers panel, make sure you have selected the title or whatever you have used your strokes on.  Then go under the Styles panel to that plus sign in the middle of the bottom (if you don’t have your styles panel docked like I do, you can go Windows>Styles to pop the panel up):

Click on it and a dialogue panel will pop up looking like this:

Go ahead and name your new style to whatever you want.  I called mine “Double Outline” (not very creative, but it gets the point across!)  You should see it now listed in your Styles panel:

What I really like about creating my own styles is that I can simply add this effect to anything else with one button.  For instance, I’ll add a double stroke around my word art just to show you what I mean:

Want to know the best part??  These styles are fully adjustable!  All I have to do is select on the “fx” button on my layer, and the dialogue box pops up where I can adjust the strokes, shadows, or anything else.  Here I can change the color to green for example:

Now obviously I don’t really want to add a stroke or double stroke to my word art (especially not a green one!) so I’ll step back a bit.  This is my final layout using Liz’s Focal Point Templates 7 template set:

Remember, you don’t have to limit yourself to just strokes.  You can add a pattern, a shadow, a blending mode, or anything else you want to, and then create a new style with those options.  It’s quick, easy, fully adjustable and oh so fun to do.  Try it and let me know what you think!

Merry Christmas and see you next month!

Robin

SOSN 12/16

Well hello again, Stefanie here with your 50% off SOSN deals for this week.

SOSN 12/9

Hello there Stefanie here with two layouts I created using Recyclables 50 and 51 (50% off SOSN for today only)

I wanted to tell the story of how a flamingo ornament my daughter got for her birthday meant we shopped for additional pink ornaments and went pink for the tree this year.

I started with my photos, adding photo spots instead of paper circles on the vertical page. I carried the same patterned papers across both pages to add cohesion. I dressed up the paper circles with sweet summery embellishments. Adding some wordart title work, stitching and dimensional elements.

I took the liberty of using the clone tool to remove some of the neighbouring flamingoes and some splatters so that the flamingo in the paper would be the focal point. I clipped solid papers to the "string of lights" and the glow already added to the templates adds magic.

Hope that you see how you can pair templates from different sets to make a double page layout.

You will find the 50% off SOSN deals in store here.
