Artsy Journal Templates 19 and 20

It's been a while since Liz made some Artsy Journal Templates. When she presented these to the team she said, "It's been too long," since she made this style. There is plenty of variety here, in style, photos size and photo number. These will cover all the different looks you want to play with, so they are great for building your stash. I find the Artsy templates are ones I can come back to time and again, and they always feel fresh. These two are on sale 20% off through April 1, 2018.

March Make It Snappy Instructions and Inspiration

On the first Saturday of every month, Tracy hosts a MIS {make it snappy} template challenge.  I've been trying to make a habit of posting the instructions and some inspiration each month after the challenge. I missed February's challenge (life was happening), but you can see the last few challenges here. I'm here today to share March's challenge with you.

These were the posted instructions for March's MIS. Take your pick!

MARCH 2018: IT'S WORTH REPEATING
Choose between these previous MIS instructions to complete your layout.

Option 1: December 2017: Traditional MIS

1. Have a checked/plaid/graph patterned background paper. Basically, I'm looking for lines that cross :)
2. Have two photos.
3. Have three spots of journaling/words; one of which is the title and another is the date or location.
4. Have three free-standing (not the center of flowers) buttons. Note: you can use buttons as the center of flowers, they do not count towards your three.
5. Have six flowers or stars (you cannot have both).

Option 2: November 2017: Fill-in-the-Blank

Using the following five words, fill in the instructions below.

Words: Fastener(s), Photo(s), Flowers(s), Patterned Paper(s), Line(s) of Journaling

Instructions:

1. Have exactly one __________.
2. Have two or more __________.
3. Have exactly three __________.
4. Have four or more __________.
5. Have five or more __________.

for example...
1. Have exactly one flower.
2. Have two or more fasteners.
3. Have exactly three photos.
4. Have four or more patterned papers.
5. Have five or more lines of journaling.
Here's what Tracy came up using the instructions and the participant template.

This week was fun. I captured a lot of our normal around the house activities: school, play, fun. Sometimes I think my weekly pages all sort of look the same but this is my life. We learn, play and have fun.

And I was reminded this week why I scrapbook. I finally ordered my 2017 pages and put them together in an album. My kids spent hours looking at the pages this weekend. You can see one of the pics on the top page (bottom right pic).

I'm not sure I'm going to do a review post about it since I used the same format as my 2015 and 2016 album. Just check out those links if you want to see how I'm putting together my albums and why I like them so!

I've made it a priority to put my phone away and that means more photos with my DSLR which makes me a happy mamma when I go to scrap my weekly pages. The photos are always better than my phone photos. This week was a pretty typical week: school, music lessons, reading, playing outside, etc. No special events or activities. It was nice! I kept my page nice and simple. I'm loving the light, airy feel my weekly pages have had lately, plus they are really easy to put together.

I also scrapped two more pages of our travels home from China. It's hard to believe that Abi and Isaac have been home almost a year and a half. They've grown so much. We've grown so much.

Week 10: Hikes, Hair Cuts and Homeschool Convention!

Flourish March '18 products
This week started out great and ended great. On Sunday we went for a hike at Tallulah Gorge (a must see if you are ever in North GA or WNC). We hike it at least two times a year. All the way down and all the way up. I couldn't get a conclusive number of steps but I think it's somewhere around 2500 total. I did that all while carrying a 32 pound 3 year old. On Tuesday I could barely walk up and down our stairs my calves were SO sore. But it was totally worth it.

Monday was a normal day of school and music lessons. Then Tuesday my 2nd born and I were off for hair cuts. Always fun. Actually I can't believe I've been to the salon 3 times in the last 6 months to get my hair cut. That's more than I've gone in the last ten years combined. I usually just let it grow out for years before cutting. BTW - we also did school work on Tuesday for those of you worried about my children's education. Wednesday was more school, music and church. Then Thursday, after our homeschool group meeting, my two oldest and I were off for our first homeschool convention. I've been homeschooling for over 11 years and I've NEVER been to one and I've never had a weekend away with just my older girls. About time. It was SO.MUCH.FUN.  So much fun that I barely took any pictures. I  soaked up the time with my girls and took in as many speaker sessions as I could. So inspiring. I'm ready to tweak a few things and finish up this school year strong.

I missed my littles so much though and apparently they missed me. I hadn't been away from them that long since they've been home. Abi kept saying, "Mommy, Daddy, home!" Even though daddy was home I think she was just happy that we were all home together. Me too!

Wow! A little wordy tonight as a type. Sorry if I gave you too many details about my sore calves and homeschool adventures but that's my life.

It was a busy week.  So busy that I apparently forgot to take pictures. What you see on my page is all that I took! That is not very many for me. Even though we were busy his week I did manage to finish my weekly page, my February review page and two China pages.

I'm loving the white background and light colors on these pages...even if there aren't many photos.

Here's my February planner review page. I added to this a little bit every week so it was easy to finish up this past weekend. I think it will be fun to look back and see our whole month on one page.

Wonderful Cut Out - Hybrid Print

Totally Awesome Cut Files for Photoshop and Silhouette

I recently rearranged my girls' rooms. There was a need for me to update some of the wall art. I decided I would try some of my cut outs to make a print for their wall. I chose the 'wonderful' cut out from my Totally Awesome Cut Out pack

Wonderful Print using Cut Files for Scrapbooking

I used Warm and Cozy Paper from Mommyish, products from Bloom MPM, and the heart is from Totes Adorbs by Sahlin Studio.

I just opened up a new 8x10 document in Photoshop, placed my Wonderful Cut Out on top and then got to work decorating it. The hardest part was finding papers that worked together with the color scheme of the room. I added a stroke to the outside of the cut out to add more depth. Then I printed it on my home printer and stuck it in a frame. This is totally doable on a silhouette as well - svg files are included.

Wonderful Framed Print using Cut Files for Scrapbooking

I think it looks great on her wall, and I still have the print I made for her back in 2012!

Wonderful Print using Cut Files for Silhouette and Photoshop

If you want more tips on how to use the Cut Outs Jenn just wrote a great blog post on different techniques to try when using them. There are so many fun ways to use them.
